Fear not mamas, we’ve got you!
A pregnancy massage is specifically designed to help you with all of the above and more. It is a gentle and therapeutic form of massage, focused on helping you alleviate some of the physical and emotional discomforts associated with pregnancy, whilst you’re waiting for the little one to arrive.
As always, we know you might be nervous or unsure, especially if this is your first pregnancy, so let’s look at what’s involved in your pregnancy massage.
What’s Involved in a Pregnancy Massage?
- Comfort: Laying on your side or back, with supportive pillows, is generally recommended to alleviate any pressure on your abdomen. This allows you to position yourself in a manner designed for comfort and relaxation throughout.
- Gentle Techniques: We know that pregnancy can be a time of discomfort, stress, pressure and so on. As a result, pregnancy massages use gentle and soothing techniques that are adapted with this in mind. The focus is on help you to relax, whilst also boosting blood flow and circulation around the body.
- Tailored to You: Our team are experts in what they do. Each massage is tailored to the individual, so you can be sure that your comfort and relaxation will be our primary focus throughout the treatment.
- Pregnancy Discomfort Focus: Every pregnancy is different, but it can sometimes result in lower back pain, muscle tension, swelling, and stress. The massage will be designed with all of this in mind. This includes encouraging your lymphatic drainage system to work, improving blood flow and reducing swelling etc.
- Less Pressure: You’re pregnant…so naturally we won’t treat this like a deep tissue or sports massage. Instead, pressure will be at a minimum and your enjoyment and relaxation will be a priority.
When you’re considering booking a pregnancy massage it’s important to think about timing. As the first trimester is particularly crucial, it’s generally recommended that pregnancy massages are booked for beyond this period and up until just before the due date.
Obviously if you have specific concerns, we always recommend you discuss these with your Doctor or suitably qualified medical staff before any booking.
