Try a Dry Floatation Room Experience With Unique Day Spa
23rd November 2021Join us on Saxy Tuesdays!
21st January 2022We offer many treatments and services that pamper, invigorate and replenish the body at Unique Day Spa and in this article, we take a look at one of the most interesting. Our Pressotherapy room is designed to assist the lymphatic system – one that represents a vital part of our immune systems.
What it does is help the body to detoxify by draining the network of hundreds of lymph nodes that exist, allowing the fluid to be returned back to the bloodstream. This effectively removes bodily waste, while carrying the white blood cells that are crucial in preventing infection.
How Our Pressotherapy Room Works
When you walk into our Pressotherapy room, you’ll immediately see a large treatment table that’s attached to a computer-controlled pump and a multi-chambered garment. Those enjoying Pressotherapy wear this suit, with each of its individual sections covering the legs, arms and stomach.
The aforementioned pump feeds compressed air into the suit, inflating each chamber individually and once it’s completely full of air, the pneumatic circuit is closed. This means that a set pressure is maintained in each section, in turn pressure is created across the body.
A ‘Wave-Like’ Massage Experience
Once the treatment is fully up to speed, a ‘wave-like’ massage experience results – something that’s quite similar to the cuff pressure you get when having your blood pressure taken. Here though, it’s a continuous process, with each inflation punctuated by temporary pauses.
As the person having the treatment, all you need to do is lie there and relax, as the machine will do everything for you, contracting muscles and keeping you healthy and fit. Each session has a duration of around 30-45 minutes, with 2-4 days recommended in between each one.
The Benefits of Pressotherapy Are Numerous
The relaxing process of pressotherapy will greatly increase lymphatic flow, as well as helping to provide additional stimulation of the vessels themselves. This means that excess interstitial fluid (the fluid found around cells in the body) is excreted, which helps to prevent edema (swelling) from occurring.
While all this is happening, any decayed cells or foreign particles are pushed from the body, helping you feel refreshed and ‘light’. However, don’t be surprised if you need to visit the bathroom right afterwards! What you essentially achieve is a body that’s much freer of toxins.
